I. LIC Connectivity Resources Webinar

This is a virtual 30-minute online session intended for hospital lab managers and directors, as well as hospital-based health information technology professionals. This session focuses on the connectivity and transport aspects of Electronic Lab Reporting (ELR) including a recap of the filtering and extraction of your formatted results.


This webinar discusses several ways a hospital laboratory can connect to Public Health –

  1. A direct connection through SFTP or PHINMS
  2. An EHR/LIS Public Health reporting component
  3. A Health Information Exchange (HIE)
  4. The Surescripts Network

II. LIC Terminology Resources Webinar

This fast-paced virtual workshop is a 2-hour online primer covering LOINC and a short introduction to SNOMED. This session is intended for hospital lab managers and directors, as well as hospital-based health information technology professionals.


This webinar reviews the following content –

  1. Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC®) demonstration using RELMA and RCMT
  2. SNOMED (abbreviated demonstration as relates to ELR requirements)
  3. Messaging and reporting
  4. After workshop on-line resources

III. Live LOINC & Connectivity Workshop

This is a live 6.5 hour classroom session intended for hospital lab managers and directors, as well as hospital-based health information technology professionals.


Topics covered include –

  1. Electronic Lab Reporting requirements (ELR);
  2. Meaningful use Stages 1 & 2 (requirements related to ELR)
  3. Public Health jurisdiction ELR updates*
  4. Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC®)
    1. Background
    2. Demonstration using RELMA and RCMT
    3. Hands-on training
  5. SNOMED (abbreviated demonstration as relates to ELR requirements)
  6. Messaging and reporting
  7. After workshop on-line resources

*Public Health representative from local (state or city) jurisdiction available at most sessions.

As a federally-funded grant, our obligation is to track participation in our efforts – this requires each facility to acknowledge their participation and understand our intent to help you progress to Electronic Laboratory Reporting to your local public health jurisdiction.
